About

Born and raised in a musically talented family, DJ Mattzilla developed a great appreciation for all genres of music. Before he took on the responsibility of carrying the torch, he was one of the most recognized figures in the dance house scene, representing the group "Ecstasy" in the mid 80's. As life would dictate, he served in the military for 9 years before returning home to reclaim his throne as one of Chicago’s most prolific house/slam dance kings. Shortly afterwards, he transitioned to the "back of the decks" (what we refer to as turn tables) in 2000 to become the progenitor of Zillahouse Music, a form of house music that expands deep house into an elevated fusion of global proportions. Drawing inspiration from musical geniuses like George Clinton, Earth Wind & Fire, Meat Loaf, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Gladys Beamon, and The Clark Sisters; DJ Mattzilla continues to cross musical boundaries, labeled “outside of the box.” DJ Mattzilla was destined to create a musical sound that can only be felt, heard and identified as "Zillahouse" –the cornerstone of the Chicago Global House Music.

He shall be the cornerstone of The Chicago Global House Music Movement as he teams with Artist & Promoter Edward White to catapult Chicago Producers and DJs alike, back into their rightful and creative world platforms. DJ Mattzilla spins are labeled as “Liquid Soulful Overtones of Musical Story Telling, like a collage of griotic rhythm in picturesque sound that leaves you totally immersed in an emotional compass, which leads you into a trance inducing sensory overload”. Therefore, his Global House style has been dubbed, Zillahouse.
