ABOUT DJ STEVE MARTIN
Steve started to DJ in 1988 at 13 years old. He really wanted to mix even without the proper equipment he hooked up 2 belt turntables on top of his parent's wooden chassis 21 inches TV. The turntables did not have pitches controls so he would press on the plates to speed or slow down the pitch of the record to beat match the tunes...
Right away his father was annoyed with the noise, so he built an insulated DJ boot in the basement where he would spend all his time mixing records. The DJ Boot was built with windows so he could see in the next room. This was the famous boum boum room where he hosted a numbers of parties with his older brother Paul, because at 13 years old he was too young to host parties.
That same year, Steve became extremely good at mixing house music he was asked to be resident DJ at the "Brass Bar" 4 nights a week. Three years later he became resident at the "Pub Lafontaine, in Canada, Edmundston New-Brunswick. These were the hottest 2 clubs at the time in that city. He was resident DJ for a total of 7 years in these 2 clubs. Steve was also DJ on a TV show called 'Weekend Dance' at the Brass bar on Friday nights with the Host 'le gros Rej'.
Steve also participated in a DJ competition in 1990 and won first place. His strong points were originality and his ability to mix a lot of records in a short amount of time.
Steve left Edmundston to go to University in Hull 755KM away from home in Quebec. He DJ briefly to the club called "Le Bop" and also "Inextremis".
In Demember 2007 Steve decided to get back into it DJing but only with the newest technologies such as Virtual DJ, Traktors pro 3, and midi controllers to explores the new limits of DJing.
Steve was once again able to position himself as a strong DJ and be accepted on the Virtual DJ Radio team. Since he started as a regular DJ, just 2 months after he was accepted on the radio vitual DJ team as a regular DJ he was offered a resident DJ spot on the show called 'Electro Madness' on Thursday nights at 9 PM Eastern time GMT -5.
Steve also works in the field of IT, and web development. He leads a large web infrastructure for over 30 TV stations in Canada, and a robust live and on-demand streaming video infrastructure he build for www.Rogerstv.com, and www.CPAC.ca.
