Hey fellow Aussies and all you other lovely foreign people....  Wink

For those who do not know already, the death toll following bushfires in Victoria, Australia (which are still raging) now stands at 173, and is expected to rise to well over 200.

The temperature in Vic is over 40 degrees, and winds are spreading the fires still. Whole towns have been wiped out, and cease to have existed.

Most people have died whilst packing their belongings in their car, or while trying to escape their towns. Livestock is igniting around them, and their family pets have perished in homes and gardens. Elderly people have died because their families are unable to drive through fires to reach them.

People are in desperate need of urgent assistance, and the Red Cross is accepting donations from everywhere. If you want you can donate here https://www.redcross.org.au/Donations/onlineDonations.asp, because as much funding as possible is needed! The minimum is $5, which is around 2.26 pounds (sorry no bloody pound key!)

This is literally devastating for people all over Australia, in my job (for those who don’t know, I monitor the media such as news, talkback etc) I hear about this all day long.
My mate Nicola is in the area, she’s safe, but it’s still pretty scary as the winds could change and the fires could spread to anywhere.

I hope you can dig deep, like the people in Vic will have to.  :'(

Clare xx-  Grateful to be safely tucked away in Perth, Western Australia.

I hope and pray that Our Heavenly Father can keep you all in His hands during these trying and worrisome times and sway your anguish as ALL Australians united together during this tragedy...

Nice words Clare...

Thank you all for your kind words, and I hope you will consider making a donation.

Kaoz and I dedicated last night's Australian Effect show to the deceased and families thereof;

Thanks for your support, and yes as Clare mentioned I am thankful to be safely tucked away in Perth.

Make sure you give your loved ones a big hug and don't hold back on the "I love yous".  I have been listening to too many heart wrenching stories of people who will not get this opportunity again.

Clare has been finding it particularly difficult in her job, having to listen and summarize these horrific stories, so spare a thought for her.

More information can be found here ; http://www.abc.net.au/news/events/bushfires/

I am planning on holding a one minute silence during Wednesday's set, 12:00-13:00 UTC, I hope you can join me.

Take care each and every one of you.

Our thoughts are with the men, women and children who have lost their homes, their loved ones and their lives.. as well as the brave and courageous fire fighters and rescue workers who continue to battle this natural disaster.

The death toll is currently at 173 and climbing.

Hey, just an update:

The death toll is now 181, more than 1,800 homes have been destroyed and more than 7,000 people are homeless.  :'(

Firefighters are still battling 12 blazes burning across the state.

The Red Cross has now raised AU $77m Smiley Which is excellent, but very much needed.

Thanks everyone who has made a donation.  Kiss

Please don't forget about the animals Wink http://www.rspcavic.org/campaigns_news/news_bushfires.htm
